Our Founders
Since 2011, our co-founders have dedicated themselves to planning the curriculum and personally teaching classes at our centres.
Matthew Lim
Matthew is the founder of Matt’s Education and a full‐time private educator who specialises in teaching English and Mathematics. Bringing with him more than ten years of tutoring experience, he is privileged to have helped students overcome their difficulties and push the boundaries in their quest for academic excellence. Matthew personifies the approach that is adopted at Matt’s Education – to help students cope with academic requirements without compromising the quality of a childhood these children are entitled to. This unconventional approach to education has gained mention in local dailies like The Straits Times and My Paper.
After graduating from the National University of Singapore where he specialized in journalism and public relations, Matthew honed his skills in writing and deepened his knowledge of the English language while working in a top media firm.
Marian He
Marian is the co-founder of Matt’s Education and a former primary school teacher, who brings her experience with the Singapore education system into the classroom. Leveraging her experience in helping children of all learning abilities, along with her familiarity with the school syllabus and exam requirements, she oversees the entire primary school curriculum at Matt’s Education. Over the years, Marian has struck a chord with the parents and children she has worked with, as they take to her caring, amiable but no-nonsense approach towards the students.
Marian develops the beginner and intermediate English curriculum, putting in place a framework that works on the learner’s basic English skills right through to the advanced level. Her teaching pedagogy for both English and Maths involves partnering closely with students to work on problem areas and helping them develop their potential.
This dedicated teacher graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and went on to pursue a diploma in education at the National Institute of Education (NIE).
We firmly believe that there is no such thing as a lost cause. Our approach builds students’ confidence and encourages them to see tuition as a choice, not a chore. With the right learning attitude, students can achieve results beyond their own expectations.

Why Matt’s Education
Personal
Low student-teacher ratios and lessons that adapt to students’ needs provide a personalised learning experience.
Competent
Our teaching team consists of only MOE-trained and full-time tutors with years of teaching experience.
Relevant
A team of curriculum specialists develops and reviews our learning material to keep it up to date and relevant.
Our Team
Our co-founders, Matthew and Marian, take a very hands-on approach in planning the curriculum and teaching at the centre. Matthew oversees and personally teaches the secondary classes, while Marian leverages her experience as a former MOE primary school teacher to incorporate best practices in classroom teaching.
Our Story
Faced with increasing demand for our classes, we moved to our current premises at Jurong West Sports Centre. We recreated the feeling of learning in a comfortable home environment, keeping our classrooms bright, vibrant, and well-equipped with learning devices.
Encouraged by the support from parents and students, we expanded our centre with a brand-new classroom. We had some of our biggest batches for the PSLE, ‘N’ and ‘O’ Levels this year, and several of our students went on to top their respective cohorts.
Blessed with an outpouring of support, we moved into our first centre. As our journey continued, it became clear that what was closest to our hearts was helping students, especially those low in confidence, find their footing again. Gradually, we developed a reputation for helping underperforming students punch above their weight.
After over a year of deliberation and development, we added Science classes to our curriculum. This was a very welcome change across the upper primary and secondary levels.
This year once again opens a new chapter. Matt’s Education will be exploring new grounds with its second outlet at Clementi.
